In the background, Upvest handles the entire value chain for investments: trading, settlement, and custody, including a middle- and back-office with comprehensive BPO services. Our cloud-native investment core banking system offers B2B clients a decisive advantage in terms of scalability, modularity, and cost. Yes. Upvest has built an international yet localised platform enabling multi-currency investing across all relevant instruments for each market, with a focus on Europe and the UK. This includes local tax wrappers and tax administration capabilities.

Brokerage
Upvest supports fractional trading across all instruments available on its platform, including stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, money market funds, ELTIFs, securitised derivatives, bonds, and more. Upvest supports up to 10 decimal place precision for securities units. Learn more about fractional investing here.
Yes. End users have real ownership of the fractional shares they hold. Ownership is transferred, allocated, and protected under German law (Section 741 et seq. BGB), including shareholder rights and insolvency protection. UK-held fractional shares are protected under the CASS regime.

Custody
Upvest’s Investment API supports comprehensive, fully digital corporate actions processing, covering the entire lifecycle from announcement to settlement. This includes user and client notifications, instruction handling, and tax treatment. Both mandatory and voluntary corporate actions are supported within the current asset universe (including dividends, splits, and mergers), with the list of supported types expanding as the asset universe grows. Proxy voting services and digital ordering of entry cards for annual shareholder meetings are also available.
Both. Upvest supports segregated individual securities accounts for each end user, giving granular ledger visibility. We also support omnibus accounts (pooled holdings) for clients who prefer to manage individual end-user holdings, account types, tax wrappers, and reporting in-house. Yes. Upvest provides real-time event notifications through webhooks (and Kafka streams coming soon). Order status and execution updates, including partial executions, are transmitted in real time, along with per-order settlement status.

Security, compliance & licences
Upvest maintains a consistent data protection framework and has data protection governance in place, in line with applicable privacy legislations.
For this, Upvest has appointed a Group Data Protection Officer and has a data protection department in place. All Upvest employees are trained on data privacy compliance.
Upvest's data is stored within the EU. We engage a limited number of carefully selected vendors. Respective data protection assessments are conducted. Where vendors are located outside the EU/EEA or UK, appropriate measures are taken.

Supervised by Bafin and the FCA*, our investment firm licences enable us to support clients across Europe and the UK with compliant, cross-border investment infrastructure. In Europe, we’re fully passported across all countries. We have established branches in major markets, including France, Spain, and Austria.
