- With Upvest as its new investment infrastructure provider, Quirin Privatbank and quirion gain a modern technological partner, covering brokerage, custody, and settlement, and a digital-first foundation for AI-enabled, personalised investment experiences at scale
Berlin, 15. October 2026 - Quirin Privatbank and its digital investment platform quirion today announce a partnership with Upvest, Europe's leading investment infrastructure provider. This collaboration lays the foundation to modernise Quirin Privatbank and quirion's investment infrastructure end-to-end, enabling faster innovation, including AI-enabled investments, automated portfolio management, and a better user experience powered by real-time data. The partnership starts with the launch of the Altersvorsorgedepot, Germany's new state-subsidised pension product, in early 2027.
Quirin Privatbank and quirion together manage more than €11 billion in AuM for over 118,000 end users1. Focussing on an end-to-end wealth approach offered to affluent investors, Quirin Privatbank is known for its fee based, independent advisory and tailored investment strategies based on end users’ financial needs and goals. As one of Germany's fastest-growing and most highly awarded robo-advisors, quirion alone grew its assets under management by 20% in 20252. As such, this represents one of the largest infrastructure migrations in German private banking, underscoring the scale of Quirin's commitment to modernising its investment offering.
By migrating to Upvest’s cloud-native infrastructure, the bank benefits especially from Upvest's portfolio engine. It will support discretionary portfolio management across both quirion's robo-advisory offering and Quirin's private banking business, enabling automated portfolio construction for custom mandates and rebalancing at scale. Quirin Privatbank and quirion will furthermore rely on cost-efficient technology built to scale, offering order execution and settlement, custody, and reporting, alongside modern use cases such as savings plans, fractions, and an end-to-end pension offering. Real-time availability of data alongside the whole value chain will enable the further extension of the AI capabilities of the financial planning and generative advisory tool quirion.AI.
As a first product, Quirin Privatbank and quirion will offer the Altersvorsorgedepot. Replacing the Riester-Rente as part of Germany's pension reform, the Altersvorsorgedepot gives savers a tax-efficient way to invest for retirement with more flexible investment choices than before. Leveraging Upvest’s Investment API, the bank aims to reach the approximately 83% of Germans3 who currently do not invest with a transparent retirement savings offering.
Following this launch, new and existing end users of quirion will be migrated onto Upvest’s investment infrastructure, followed by Quirin Privatbank's own private banking investment business in a second phase.
"We are building an integrated, highly scalable platform for both Quirin Privatbank and quirion – from front-end to back-end. Upvest is a key building block on that journey: its regulated, API-first infrastructure enables us to launch the Altersvorsorgedepot at scale and offer hundreds of thousands of clients a transparent, low-cost path to retirement investing. This is the starting point for modernising our entire investment value chain."
Sebastian Böttner
CIO of Quirin Privatbank
"Quirin and quirion are modernising their investment infrastructure end-to-end, and we're proud to be the partner behind that transformation. We're starting with the Altersvorsorgedepot, giving hundreds of thousands of savers a tax-advantaged, transparent way to invest for retirement, many for the first time. But this is about more than one product: modern infrastructure is what makes AI-enabled, personalised wealth management at scale possible."

About Quirin Privatbank and quirion
Quirin Privatbank and its digital subsidiary quirion combine personalised wealth advisory services at 15 locations across Germany with leading digital investment management in an innovative hybrid business model.
As the first private bank in Germany, Quirin Privatbank abolished industry-standard commissions entirely back in 2006 and has advised private investors on a fee-only basis ever since: transparent, independent and free of conflicts of interest. Its scientifically grounded investment concept "Markt – Meinung – Zinsen" ("Market – Sentiment – Interest Rates") draws a clear line between speculation and predictable wealth accumulation.
Personal advisory services are complemented by quirion AG, founded in 2013. As a pioneer in digital wealth management, quirion was named Stiftung Warentest's test winner for the third consecutive time in 2026. With around 118,000 clients and €11.1 billion in assets under management (as of June 30, 2026), the group ranks among the most established providers in the German market. With the state-subsidized Altersvorsorgedepot launching in 2027, the group is also placing a clear strategic focus on simple, low-cost and future-proof retirement provision for all.
